REF 022 / DOCS
SETUP · STATUSES · TROUBLESHOOTING
Five setup steps, what each status means, and the fixes for the questions we get most. If something here doesn't match what you see, tell us.
01 / SETUP
FIVE STEPS · ABOUT TEN MINUTES
STEP 1 — INSTALL
Approve the permissions Shopify shows you. Hubnar asks only for what each feature needs — the full list, with the reason for each, is in our privacy policy.
STEP 2 — SUBSCRIBE
Every plan has every feature; the only difference is monthly order volume. The 30-day trial needs no card, billing runs on your Shopify invoice, and you can change or cancel the plan from Shopify at any time.
STEP 3 — TRACKING
Click Enable on the checklist. Shopify opens your theme editor: under App embeds, switch on Hubnar Tracking and save. No theme code is edited, and the checklist turns green the moment it's on.
STEP 4 — CONNECT GOOGLE
Use a Google account that has Standard or Admin access to your Google Ads account, then pick the account from the list. If the account you signed in with can't see your Ads account, Hubnar tells you and lets you try again — nothing is connected by mistake.
STEP 5 — CONVERSION SETUP
Hubnar creates a Purchase conversion action in your Google Ads account. Keep it Primary so Smart Bidding learns from it. If your account already has a primary purchase action, Hubnar warns you about double counting before you continue — it never edits your existing actions.
AFTER SETUP
New orders are attributed and reported automatically. Your Overview shows what was captured, what was sent, and why. You never need to open the Google Ads panel for Hubnar to work.
02 / CONVERSION STATUSES
WHAT EACH LABEL MEANS
| STATUS | MEANING | WHAT TO DO |
|---|---|---|
| Success | Google accepted the conversion. | Nothing. It appears in Google Ads within a few hours. |
| Submitted | Sent to Google, waiting for Google's confirmation. | Nothing. It resolves to Success or Failed on its own. |
| Pending | Order received, being processed. | Nothing. Usually seconds. |
| Skipped | No valid signal for Google: no ad click ID and no channel you chose to send, or a bot / relay address. | Expected for sales Google didn't earn. Review Settings → Conversion Rules if you want more channels sent. |
| Failed | Google's API rejected the upload. | Open the conversion for the reason. Most cases are a lost Google connection — use Reconnect. |
| Partial failure | Google accepted part of the upload and rejected part (typically one identifier). | Hubnar retries with the accepted part automatically. |
TYPE — CLICK
The sale carried a Google click ID, so it's reported as a full click conversion — the strongest signal Google accepts.
TYPE — ENHANCED
No click ID survived, so the sale is reported with hashed customer identifiers instead. Google matches it where it can; unmatched ones are not counted.
03 / CONVERSION RULES
ONLY SALES GOOGLE EARNED
Sales with a Google click ID are always sent. For sales without one, you choose which channels go to Google. The default sends none of them — and we recommend keeping it that way.
Sending organic, direct or email sales as conversions teaches Smart Bidding that ads produced revenue they didn't, and inflates the ROAS you see. If you want to reach those buyers, build an Audience from them instead — that puts them in front of your ads without polluting your conversion data.
04 / TROUBLESHOOTING
THE COMMON ONES
Google processes uploaded conversions asynchronously — typically within a few hours. If Hubnar shows Success and it's been longer than 24 hours, email us with your store domain.
Your Google authorization expired or was revoked. Open Hubnar → Settings → Google Ads → Reconnect, and sign in with the Google account that manages your Ads account.
You signed in with a Google account that isn't a user of your Google Ads account. Either sign in with the account that is, or add this account under Google Ads → Admin → Access and security first.
The conversion action was removed in Google Ads. Open Integrations and use Recreate on that event — Hubnar creates a fresh one and keeps sending.
That notice appears when some enhanced conversions can't be matched to a Google user. It's a diagnostic, not an error, and it's expected when you send only the sales Google earned. We wrote up exactly what it means.
Make sure the Hubnar Tracking app embed is switched on in the theme that is currently published, and that you clicked Save in the theme editor. The check is live — refresh the Overview after saving.
Conversions stop immediately and, 48 hours after uninstall, Shopify sends the deletion request that removes your store's data from our systems. Details on the data deletion page.
